When working with multiple organizations, you see very different environments. When people are trialing Intune and Autopilot, people can usually get a minimum viable product with a few devices.
I hope with this post, I can outline some options that you can leverage depending on tools that you have in your environment. Just keep in mind, not every environment is the same and I can’t make something work for everything in one post.
I came across an scenario I wouldn’t think I was going to need to find a solution, but it really isn’t a problem that is typically common this day in age.
Problem: A lost device that is needs to be found. How can I track down who had it last?
Assumptions Device isn’t necessarily lost. Maybe displaced. It hasn’t been on to check in with Intune. In my case, I am assuming it isn’t wiped.
Domain joined devices, Azure AD Connect Cloud Sync agent, and Intune enrollment. All three things I had to deal with recently in an environment that was going through a cloud scentric migration. I had a fun time going through all the weird things that come with the below solution.
I do want to state this as a disclaimer: The solution below to my knowledge is not documented and possibly not supported.
Today I had to package Autodesk Revit. Now I don’t package this application often, but it did come up today and I knew I was going to have an issue. I say this because Intune has a default limit set 8GB for the intunewin file. Below are the steps I had to go through to upload a large application and in this case 12GB.
Getting the Limit Increased With an 8GB limit for Win32 applications, this will cover most applications that need packaged.
Activation. It is one of my most least favorite things to talk about because it seems to be a beast of the unknown. Back in the day it used to be a holographic sticker on the side (or bottom) of PCs. You would need to then use that to activate via the telephone or via this new fancy thing called the internet! Both of which are still available for activation, as long as you have a key.
